How To Get Rid of Menstruation Odor
One of the problems periods come with is bad odor and some women, especially teenagers, seem to have a hard time trying to get rid of it.
Here are several things you can do, and things you should not do, in order to get rid of the bad smell during your period:
- Keep yourself clean by washing with mild soap and warm water at least once every day during your period.
- Change your sanitary pads as often as necessary. Bacteria grows in wet, warm and closed areas, so it is important to change your pad regularly, to keep yourself dry, clean and feeling comfortable and healthy.
- Chose the right sanitary pads. Anion Love Moon Sanitary Napkins contain an anion strip which can release high density anions which eliminate bacteria and bad odor.
- Avoid wearing tight clothing, polyester and nylon clothes while menstruating, as they will add to your body odor. Wear cotton underwear instead to allow your body to breathe.
- Be warned that vaginal deodorants are sometimes harmful, as they tend to upset the normal balance of bacteria in the vaginal cavity. This can in turn upset the pH of the vagina. Noticeably unpleasant odors can be an indicator of a potentially serious medical problem, and deodorant sprays or washes may hide this condition.
- Scented tampons, sanitary napkins and toilet tissue are not good to use either. Instead of using a scented pad that will just (hopefully) cover the bad smell, try a Love Moon Anion Sanitary Napkin which eliminates odor (it doesn’t just cover it!). Anions chemically oxidize, decompose and neutralize the source of odor to remove offensive odor and keep you comfortable.
- If you do the things advised above and can still feel a strong bad odor you should see a doctor, because the odor may be caused by yeast infections, sexually transmitted infections, Trichomoniasis or Bacterial Vaginosis.
